Death Row Records est un label de production de rap californien fondé par Marion « Suge » Knight et Dr. Dre, en 1991, sous la tutelle
du groupe Interscope de Jimmy Iovine. Death Row est la compagnie phare du hip hop des années 1990 puisqu’elle comptait notamment trois « pointures » : 2Pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg et Dr. Dre. D’autres rappeurs se sont illustrés avec le groupe, dont Tidy-H, Lil Bow Wow ou encore Lady of Rage sur le morceau « Afro Puffs » avec Snoop. Malgré la rivalité entre la West Coast et la East Coast, Suge Knight avait projeté d’ouvrir une filiale du label à New York appelée Death Row East. Eric B était prévu pour diriger cette filiale et Tupac avait même souhaité que les rappeurs du Wu-Tang Clan les rejoignent. Mais ce projet n’a jamais vu le jour. En effet, le label a coulé à la suite du meurtre en 1996 de son artiste numéro un Tupac, puis de l’emprisonnement du dirigeant, Suge Knight, l’année suivante. Les rappeurs RBX (1994) et Dr. Dre (1996) ont rapidement quitté le label. Kurupt (1997), Nate Dogg (1997), Snoop Dogg (1998) et bien d’autres les imitèrent peu de temps après. Après avoir déposé le bilan en 2006, l’aventure du label Death Row Records prend définitivement fin en septembre 2008. Le label est à cette date racheté par Global Music Group, Global Music Group qui, ironie du sort, compte parmi ses rangs l’ancien membre du groupe The Outlawz Hussein Fatal. La transaction s’est élevée à un montant de 32 millions de dollars.

Daniel Janin, né en 1931, est un compositeur et musicien
autodidacte français.
En 1957, Jean Nohain l’engage pour son premier contrat
comme vibraphoniste sur une tournée avec Sim
et le trio Raisner. Quand il est engagé en 1958 comme
arrangeur musical, il commence à fréquenter les studios
d’enregistrement.En septembre 1961, après l’avoir vu à
l’Olympia avant son « big band » de 17 jeunes musiciens
professionnels, Bruno Coquatrix l’engage pour 3semaines
consacrées à Johnny Hallyday.
Daniel Janin restera finalement pendant 3 ans pour
accompagner certaines vedettes nationales
et internationales : Jacques Brel,Gilbert Bécaud, Dalida,
Marlène Dietrich et The Beatles.

Entre 1965 et 1970, il compose pour la télévision
des génériques de feuilletons, d’ émissions de variétés,
du journal télévisé.Fort de son expérience du studio, de
la scène et du music-hall, tant au niveau de la
direction d’orchestre que de l’écriture musicale,
il décroche des contrats en Suède, Norvège, Belgique,
Suisse, Hollande, Allemagne etc …
il part avec ses musiciens à Cologne pour enregistrer
un album de Nancy Holloway, avec laquelle il va
continuer à collaborer,notamment pour un album
très rare ( l’original est très coté )sorti sur PSI en 1974:

Un ami est machiniste sur les plateaux de cinéma, il touche aussi à la caméra d’ailleurs….
En me rendant au concert de Wax Tailor à La Cigale(Paris) dans le cadre de Festival Factory(de la patate),
j’ai donc été faire un tour, voir mon pote Thibault sur le tournage de ce spot que vous aurez peut-être vu…..
Thibault a travaillé sur Scènes de Crimes, Rush Hour 3, the Traitor et tant de travaux qu’il serait long de le relater…..
J’aime vraiment l’art en général….. Que ce soit la musique, le cinéma, la peinture, etc…..
J’adore ce regard sur l’art propre à chacun…. Peace.

Wax Tailor/ASM – Positively Inclined remix
Le remix de mon ami et collaborateur Stig, qu’il avait présenté dans le cadre du Remix Contest,
organisé par Wax Tailor pour le titre Positively Inclined…
Pour mettre la main à la pate sur le projet, et comme j’aime beaucoup la musique de Wax Tailor,
en lui délivrant le remix, nous avons ajouté ce contenu sympathique, pour donner un « grain » au
remix, une idée de clip…. La coincidence aura voulu que le clip officiel de Positively Inclined soit
une animation, Wax Tailor ayant déjà engagé la réalisation du clip en ce sens….
Comme quoi, la musique est quelque chose qui transporte, jusqu’au point d’en ressentir toute la
trame quand on se retrouve dans le morceau…..
J’ai réalisé ce montage à partir du film d’animation A Scanner Darkly avec Keanu Reeves,
un régal de pictographie…. Le contenu est visible sur myspace depuis deux ans maintenant.
